ThinkAdvisor sifted through this year’s Forbes list of 400 richest Americans (a group worth a combined $4 trillion) and identified 16 women at the top of the rankings.
Forbes introduced the 2022 list, noting that the country’s 400 richest people are $500 billion poorer than they were last year. In fact, the lowest net worth listed on the Forbes 400 dropped for the first time since the Great Depression, dropping him $200 million to $2.7 billion amid the market crash.
Forbes reporters interviewed members of the list in person or spoke online or by phone when possible. Some billionaires were more proactive than others when it came to providing documents about their assets and companies.
Reporters also interview dozens of people around them, from employees to financial and legal counsel, to rivals and peers, and review thousands of SEC documents, court filings, and probate documents. I scrutinized records, news articles. Forbes then put in the stock prices as of Sept. 2 to calculate their respective fortunes.
