The Weld County Board of Commissioners has approved the award of funds to K9cation. This is the 25th small business to receive funding through the Small Business Incentive Program (SBIP).
K9cation, an unincorporated Weld County dog boarding, day care, and training facility, was awarded $20,000 by SBIP to offset permit and land use application fees.
To be eligible for this program, your business must be located in unincorporated Weld County and 50% of your employees must reside in Weld County for one year. Program funds will be used to offset fees associated with permits and land use applications. Small businesses receive funding based on a three-tier system. The maximum amount a company can receive is $40,000.
Since its inception in 2014, a total of $388,663 has been distributed to small businesses across the county. SBIP was established with $500,000 from the county’s Economic Development Fund and is promoted by the Commission along with the Department of Planning Services.
“The goal of this program is to support small business entrepreneurship,” said Commissioner Chair Mike Freeman. “Enabling them to save money related to land use, building permits and impact fees is very helpful as capital assets can be put directly into the business instead of the fees. We are pleased to have you and encourage more small businesses looking to locate in unincorporated Weld County to take advantage of this program.”
