The ultimate list of our favorite Boondock destinations across the United States, organized by state!

Jennifer and I have been seasick all over the United States for over ten years. We have stayed in countless national and state parks, BLM properties, and camped overnight (with permission) on wonderful private properties.

I’ve also met countless other wanderers who share their favorite places and are always looking for better recommendations.

So, this list of favorite US Boondock destinations includes the places we stayed at and highly recommended. If you want more information about this type of camping, this post covers it – guidelines for decentralized camping.

75 Favorite American Boondock Destinations

As previously mentioned, this list is a compilation of Boondock locations around the United States that we have personally enjoyed or learned through research and recommendations. But others are simply must-see destinations for boondockers.

One of our favorite great resources is Leisure Travel Vans’ user-recommended boondock list. We agreed with many of the recommendations on their list and added a few to our Boondock bucket list as well.

We also highly recommend reading up on how to find the Boondocking site to see other resources we use regularly. And two of our favorite sites for camping information on these sites – The Dyrt and Campendium – Free Camping.
