Full offline functionality
Slowly but surely, Google is replacing traditional Chrome apps with Progressive Web Apps (PWAs). There are many advantages here, including the fact that such software does not have to be tied to a specific platform. Calculator app for Chrome is the newest app for finding new homes on the web
New Chrome OS 97 update or newer ( 9to5 google), Chrome’s calculator can be accessed as a PWA. The new web calculator is not significantly different from the original app. It starts with a fairly simple interface and allows operations like addition, subtraction, division and multiplication. Expand to reveal advanced geometry and trigonometry tools.
You can access it by entering calculator.apps.chrome in the search bar. Calculator still uses the old interface, so don’t expect Material You’s design language (in any case, anyway). That said, with all the evidence pointing to Google bringing Material You to Chrome OS soon, it’s not hard to imagine that the calculator app will eventually improve.
This change makes Calculator available to almost anyone on any device, regardless of OS. Since this is just a calculator, Google made sure it works perfectly offline. Note that the This is because accessing it in portrait mode produces a very unfriendly interface. Some controls are hidden.
This is just one of the many changes Google is working on in Chrome OS these days. This includes Self Share (still in development), offline grammar checking, and improved calendar quick view integration with Chrome OS. Platforms can only move forward, so watch this space to find out what Google will do next.
