Cleveland, Tennessee (WDEF)- Manufacturers gathered in Bradley County on Friday to celebrate Manufacturers Month. Manufacturing industry leaders discussed the contemporary challenges of running a business in the modern labor market at the Smart Factory Institute’s 8th Annual Peak Performance Symposium.
One such topic discussed was the importance of treating the workforce fairly in a demanding labor market. Denise Rice, president and owner of Peak Performance, Inc., the organization behind the symposium, said it was an important discussion. She emphasized:Many manufacturers are really struggling with how to attract and retain the right workers they need and fill those positions. It was clear that different approaches and strategies would be required because of what the job requires. ”
These discussions and the existence of the PIE Center are part of the leader’s hope that the manufacturing industry will continue to grow. Rice added:Manufacturing is really growing in this area, the Bradley County area and the Greater Chattanooga area, and we’re very excited to have access to this resource. We are located in an old manufacturing building that has been renovated. It is planned to house not only industry but also schools and encompass services needed by students and the community. ”
The Smart Factory Institute will host a conference in December, where the University of Tennessee will present its research. For more information on their work, please visit https://www.peakperformanceinc.com/.
