Huawei EMUI 13 is a perfect reflection of the HarmonyOS 3 operating system, and there is no mistake in distinguishing between them both. With EMUI 13, Huawei brought a new type of excitement to phone users around the world, offering many new features.
However, while EMUI 13 is similar to its predecessor, the new features are unlike anything we’ve seen in the EMUI software ecosystem. The level of accessibility and enrichment brought by this new EMUI further enhances the user experience.
So without further ado, let’s jump right in.
EMUI 13 Features:
- Gesture to swipe up on apps
- service widget
- stack widget
- group widget
- smart folder
- drag to share
- Multitask and share
- multi screen
- multicam
- share music
- super storage
- Privacy and security
- photo security
App swipe gesture:
This feature was introduced in HarmonyOS 2 but is not included in EMUI 12. So EMUI 13 is the software that finally introduced the in-app swipe up gesture, also known as app snippets.
This feature acts as a trigger to extend the app’s functionality, including an app’s own service widget and a set of key features. This allows you to launch certain functions on the fly. However, you can also pin the app’s services widget to your home screen.
Service Widget:
First appearing in the EMUI universe, Service Widgets are home screen cards that provide quick access to key app features and readings. For example, a health widget shows your consumption and steps taken, and a camera widget lets you take pictures in four different modes. Widgets come in different sizes to fit in your layout.
Stack and Group Widgets:
To save space and keep your home screen layout clean, we’ve added two widgets: Stacked Widgets and Grouped Widgets. These two features live up to their name and are very helpful.
Smart Folder:
The new Large Folder is smarter than ever and comes in a variety of sizes. Simply hold down the anchor and stretch to resize the Large Folder according to the apps in the folder.
Drag to share:
Sharing is now even better and more accessible. Press and hold any text, photo, or file that catches your eye and drag it to SuperHub to paste or share to any app or connected device. Easily find, reuse, and delete previously pasted and shared content.
Super device:
Super Device is the way to go and it’s finally here. EMUI 13 offers super device features that support collaboration across a wide range of devices, including Huawei Vision, Huawei MateBook, Huawei MatePad Paper, eyewear, earphones, smartwatches, and tablets.
Multiscreen:
A landscape window mode has been added to multi-screen collaboration, allowing you to open your app in a large landscape window to maximize your view.
Multicam:
Another EMUI 13 feature allows you to shoot from any angle with any connected phone and view them side by side on one screen. You can switch between different device cameras during a video chat. This is next level innovation.
Share music:
Want to share music with your friends from your smartphone? Yes, you can with EMUI 13. Simply connect your FreeBuds device to share up to two earbuds at the same time. Also while controlling the volume level.
Super storage:
EMUI 13 clears up to 20 GB of storage space by stacking duplicate files, compressing infrequently used apps, and eliminating unnecessary re-downloads to make room for critical storage requirements It provides a unique feature called SuperStorage that
Privacy and Security:
EMUI 13 protects the privacy and security of Huawei smartphones. This is done courtesy of the Privacy and Security Centers to verify app access and personal data, and to inform you about important information on your device.
Photo security:
One of the innovations that EMUI 13 has over its competitors is a sensitive data removal tool that can remove the location, time and device model of the photo that was used to take the photo.
