I am a rolling sleeper and share a bed with 1-4 animals every night. That includes a yorkie who likes to spoon me and a cat who likes to sleep on my paws. The purple mattress is made with GelFlex Grid (a.k.a. purple squeeze layer, you probably know what purple is). The grid provides excellent back support and optimal softness to relieve pressure. GelFlex Grid is made of super elastic material that relieves pressure, provides support and instantly adapts with your movements. Be careful, the purple mattress just…arrives. Don’t expect delivery of white gloves. Old mattresses won’t be taken away. This is a budget-friendly brand (if you’re looking to buy a low-rise mattress). So a few things point to it. My mattress arrived via FedEx (my least favorite delivery service). I don’t know how long it was left on the doorstep as the driver didn’t even ring the bell.

If you live alone, you should call your friend as soon as the mattress is delivered. You might find that… This is not wise, since the Purple Plus mattress weighs 111 pounds.
We recommend the following steps:
- Remove the mattress from the bag.
- Have a friend or family member help you lift the mattress onto the bed frame.
- Using the included safety box cutter (it does not cut the mattress, only the plastic), cut through the layer of plastic that vacuum-sealed the mattress inside the bag.
- Unfold the mattress.
- Adjust the mattress so that it fits properly in the frame.
After that, the mattress is ready for use. Once inside, you will definitely want to take a nap.

Quick setup
With assistance, the mattress inflates in 1-2-3. You can watch Purple’s how-to video for setting up the mattress, but it’s really pretty easy. Just rip open the plastic wrapping (using the included safety box cutter) and unroll it on the bed. This definitely requires two pairs of hands.

Unlike mattresses like Nectar and IKEA, the Purple mattress is ready to use. Some other mattress brands require inflation for 24 to 72 hours. Put the sheets on the purple mattress and you’re ready to fall asleep.

I don’t know if my previous mattress was worn out but this new mattress was immediately comfortable and my first night’s sleep was perfect.I woke up with no back or hip pain After more than 30 days, I still wake up rested, comfortable, cool and happy.
Easy to clean
I’ve only had this mattress for a month, but so far it’s very simple and easy to clean.I have mattress protectors (I have 4 very hairy animals), so it lifts most heavy objects. Otherwise, use a Dyson to vacuum the mattress every other week to remove excess dirt and dander.

The biggest and only downside is probably the general complaint about box mattresses. If you don’t put this mattress on the first floor, it will probably be difficult to put the box mattress inside yourself.

If you live alone, it can be a hassle to put the mattress inside and set it up. This comes in a bag with handles so I could at least drag it up the stairs to my bedroom. I wouldn’t have put it in. Thankfully all I had to do was put it up a set of stairs. I definitely risked hurting myself by doing this, so I wouldn’t recommend setting up just a purple mattress.
I couldn’t lift the mattress onto the bed by myself. It was too heavy for me to handle by myself, so I had to wait for someone to help me set it up. But thankfully, my 18 year old niece came by the same day and helped me with the preparations in exchange for the cupcakes.
Weight Limit
I haven’t experienced any issues, not to mention some people say it works less well for individuals over 230 pounds. I judged. This issue has been reported for the original, most basic model. We reviewed the Purple Plus, which adds a 2-inch layer of premium comfort foam not found in the base model.
Purple says there is no weight limit, but recommends 300 per person or 600 per mattress.
