Madison, Wie. — Local businesses came together to have fun and help their neighbors today at Bar Oak.
State Line Distillery, The Bur Oak, and Young Blood Beer Company hosted the 2022 “Bur-Oaktoberfest” during Sunday’s Packers game to raise money for Breast Cancer Recovery, Inc. in Fitchburg.
Oktoberfest-themed games such as pretzel toss dominated the day while a Packers game played in the background. A meat lottery is held between commercials.
Del Lorenson, field sales representative for State Line Distillery, said:
During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the charities they chose were pretty straightforward.
“There is a physical dimension, but there is also a mental and emotional dimension. It is a stressful and alarming situation to go through. It’s about offering sessions and wellness clinics as well, so there’s all kinds of support and people going through it physically are getting help emotionally,” Lawrenson said.
Despite the Packers loss, the event was a huge success.
“Everything we do starts with the community, which is why we work with local farmers to source our grains directly. As someone who was born and raised in Wisconsin, we sell to local customers only within Wisconsin. Few things are more important to local businesses than supporting their neighbors,” says Lorenson.
