Windsor’s Blake Hill Preserves has been awarded the 2022 SBA Small Business Persons of the Year Award by VermontBiz in Waterbury.
Vermont Business Magazine The SBA Vermont District Office is now accepting nominations for the 2023 Small Business Awards. Previous Vermont winners include Ben & Jerry’s, Mamaba and Blake Hill Preserves.
Annual awards recognize the achievements of SBA-supported small businesses and the contributions they make to their communities and the economy of Vermont.
To be nominated for and win one of the following local awards, small business nominees must fit into the award category, demonstrate business success, and complete and submit the required nomination package information. is needed.
The categories are:
Small Business Person of the Year Criteria: Individual or partner owning a small business that has been in business for 3 years with increased sales, profits and employees. The business must be supported by small business management.
Export Small Business of the Year Criteria: SMEs that have increased sales, profits and/or employees through exports and have been operating for 3 years.
Family-Owned Small Business of the Year Criteria: Small businesses must have been family owned for at least 15 years and have passed ownership to another generation.
Veteran-Owned Small Business of the Year Criteria: Small business at least 51% owned by a U.S. military veteran and in operation for 3 years.
Women-Owned Small Business of the Year Criteria: Small businesses at least 51% owned by women and 3 years old.
Minority-Owned Small Business of the Year Criteria: Small and medium-sized enterprises that are at least 51% owned by ethnic minorities and have been in operation for 3 years.
Young Entrepreneur of the Year Criteria: Individual or partner, owns a small business, is under the age of 30, and has been in business for 3 years.
Microenterprise of the Year Criteria: An individual or partner who owns a micro-business with 5 or fewer employees, is supported by an SBA, and has been in business for 3 years.
