The upcoming Xiaomi 13 Lite has been spotted in the IMEI database with the model number 2210129SG. The fact that 13 Lite is in development is not at all surprising. However, that model number is very interesting.
That’s because just last week the same model number was seen in another database and said to be the Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G NE when that name finally launched. I’ve come to believe there are only a few options. Perhaps Xiaomi first decided on one of these two names for her, then changed their minds and then chose the other. Perhaps one or both of these lists are somehow forged (I’m not sure).
Or, this is arguably the most confusing thing for consumers and perhaps both are true, the company just sells the same device under two different names in different markets. It wouldn’t be the first time.
But wait. Both the 12 Lite 5G NE and 13 Lite are rumored to be rebranded versions of the Civi 2, which he launched in September in China. So we could end up with three smartphones that are all identical except for the name (and availability in the market). That’s the world we live in.

I hope that’s not what actually happens, but right now I’m not sure which of the options I’ve outlined above is the most likely.
