Before Inman founder Brad Inman took the stage at Inman Connect New York 2023, the crowd went wild as images of colorful abstract butterflies swept the screens surrounding the stage.
Inman began wistfully as the energy vibrated throughout the year.
“I was thinking behind the scenes of everything we went through together,” he said, referring to market ups and downs, dot-com busts and snowstorms in recent years.
But he made five big promises about what Inman Connect attendees can expect from this year’s event. Ideas for success in this market, huge networking opportunities, hardcore education in breakout sessions, new tech ideas and inspiration.
“That’s my promise,” he said.
Looking to the bigger picture, Inman has a sense of optimism despite unexpected events like the COVID-19 pandemic, the invasion of Ukraine, and soaring mortgage rates over the past few years. I said yes. Year.
As Inman puts it, China is “back in the game,” he said, with a potential economic recovery this year and signs of economic investment already.
“What makes me happy is that there are cranes everywhere in the world,” Inman said. “And they represent an investment.”
This kind of infrastructure investment will pay off for decades, Inman said. “This is not political partisan bullshit,” he added, “and it is a consensus that investment needs to resume.”
Inman said it’s hard to tell at this point whether inflation is temporary or long-term as far as inflation is concerned. But it is clear that it has not affected all Americans equally.
“Inflation hurts the poor middle class more than anyone else,” Inman said. “We have to squeeze it out of this system.”
Returning to butterflies, Inman noted their transformative power and their symbolism for our society.
“Now I want to talk about something else: transformation for our industry and for each of us, for our country,” Inman said. “Butterflies are the perfect metaphor for transformation and hope.
Inman said special interest groups gained the kind of power that ended up hurting consumers. bottom. This hurts low-income consumers the most.
“Our country is broken, gang,” he said. “We need to fix it and we have to admit it. We need more laws for citizens and less for special interests.” [groups]”
Inman pointed out that big media personalities like CNN and CNBC are similarly corrupted by their influence and prestige, furthering divisions among consumers. “We are divided on all these issues,” Inman said.
Also, he noted that politicians “love when we’re fighting.” Because it distracts everyday citizens and allows legislation to be passed for special interests rather than the masses.
Inman went on to say that the antitrust and price-fixing lawsuits that have hit the industry in recent months will certainly impact how and from whom real estate agents are paid.
“But at the end of the day, what remains the same?” Inman asked. “People want to own a home. I think everywhere in the world. And do you know what else they want? I would like someone to help me.”
Inman tells industry leaders how he wants the real estate payment structure to evolve over the years rather than passively waiting for lawmakers to impose new laws on the industry. I asked for
“Stop fighting and start fighting for laws for the people,” Inman said.
When it comes to personal transformation and transformation, Inman had some tips on how to live a healthier and more prosperous life. “We can choose to stay healthy and live longer. We can choose to give more than we receive.” You can choose, and once you cross that chasm — I get chills — your life will be enriched.”
