The McCrae home sold for $2.6 million, $450,000 more than the down payment, as the Mornington Peninsula property sold for $2.6 million, as buyers beat the auction price by far, as the weather on the Mornington Peninsula was hotter than today.
Homes closer to the city also posted strong results, with the Doncaster East home scoring an impressive $260,000 above booking.
PropTrack posted a preliminary clearance rate of 64.1% out of 128 initial results available at nearly 282 auctions held statewide this week.

House hunters at Keene Peninsula weren’t deterred by sweltering temperatures that hit a high of 34 degrees at 1 p.m. Saturday, according to the Bureau of Meteorology’s Cerberus weather station near Red Hill South.
A four-bedroom home at 13 Burrell St, McCrae, featuring elevator and lighthouse views attracted about 15 bidders.
The home sold for $2.6 million, pleasing its “stunned” owner who set a reserve of $2.15 million.
Grant McConnell, director of Belle Property Rosebud and Dromana, said the vendor built the home about 13 years ago but is now moving between states.
“They were in shock,” McConnell said.
He said Australia Day weekend has traditionally been the busiest on the Peninsula, with his agency having 14 auctions scheduled over the two days.
“Every man and his dog are here. The peninsula is bustling,” he added.
His fellow Bell Property Director Adam Alexander had a listing for a three-bedroom home at 12 Evans Street in Safety Beach.
All four bidders were looking for villas.
“Since the auction, I’ve been telling people it’s kind of like the coronavirus lockdown price,” Alexander said.
“We don’t have much in stock yet, so whatever comes out is very popular.”
So is Ray White Glen Waverley’s agent Huang Lue, who sold his five-bedroom house at 7 Havelock Court in Doncaster East for $1.51 million.
Six bidders beat the $1.25 million booking deposit by $260,000.
“Through this particular facility, 175 unique groups were attended by a large number of people,” Lu said.
“We are running out of inventory at the moment, which is driving people to bid.”
