With over 1.1 million military-related students attending school, the issue of school transition is a top priority for families. According to the latest data, Wyoming schools have 2,140 military-related students. The frequent relocation of military personnel means that on average, children associated with the military move from kindergarten through high school to nine times her age. As they move between schools, these students must adapt to different cultures, school populations, curricula, standards, courses offered, schedules, and graduation requirements. As a result, military students often face unique academic, social, and emotional challenges. The unfolding of a parent’s or parent’s mission can also place a great deal of stress on the student.
