The waves lapping the sands of nearby Blairgowrie Back Beach lull you to sleep at this idyllic location on the Mornington Peninsula.
But it’s come a long way since the “overgrown jungle” that Glenn Lucas and his partner Regina McInnes purchased in 2016 as a path to the suburb’s “highest street.”
The expansion and three subsequent landscaping updates have made 6 Brooke Cres a favorite with children and grandchildren.

“I like to be behind the barbecue, serve lunch, have a glass of wine, and watch the kids have fun in the pool,” Lucas said.
“Or there’s a flying fox in the backyard, so the kids can ride it, enter the little house I built, and roll down the slide.”
Lucas said he was initially drawn to the size of the 1,426-square-meter block and its location.
“I’ve always loved Brooke Kress. If it’s not the best street in Blairgowrie, it’s in the top two or three,” he said.
“We are only 400 meters from Back Beach and Front Beach with the village shopping center is about a 15 minute walk from here. On a night when the onshore wind blows you can hear the waves crashing on the back beach. This is pretty special.”
At the time, the backyard was overgrown and cluttered, so they made little reservation about putting their stamp there.
This includes everything from garden space for Reggies Vegies to lining up garden views from every window.
“Looking out from the inside is very calming,” Lucas said.
The Northeast facing design allows the pool, gardens and protected outdoor entertainment hubs to bathe in the sun.
The home also makes the most of natural light, with the living areas of the home brightening the interior of the home and complementing the coastal aesthetic.
The kitchen has stone benchtops, Miele appliances, pendant lights, breakfast bar, and windows overlooking the pool and deck.

As they prepared to sell, Lucas said one of the hardest partings would be going to be some of the “best neighbors we ever wanted.”
“But it’s the whole house,” he said.
“I’ve put a lot of heart and soul into everything we’ve been doing, so leaving it for its next owner makes me think a little bit.”
James Redfern of RT Edgar Mornington Peninsula said the house has received quite a few inquiries from the moment it was listed, with locals looking to upsize Melbourne after a weekend getaway. Even the empty nest after a place the grandchildren love to come and visit them recreates Glenn and Regina’s ideal life I was able to.
“It’s a lovely home with clean lines that is subtly beautiful,” said Redfern.
Prices range from $3.5 million to $3.85 million, and interest closes on February 15 at 4:00 pm.
