4 Reasons I Shop Only at Target Online

Physical store shopping is a headache, both physically and financially.

Everyone has their favorite big box store where they can buy just about anything. For some, it’s Walmart. For others, it’s Costco. For me, it ranks Target at the top. I love the selection of stores and the fact that most of the places don’t play music over loudspeakers (wrong songs can ruin my shopping experience). Nonetheless, I’ve been shopping at Target on the store’s website lately.

1. My local store is very crowded.

I’ve lived all over the country and was usually lucky enough to have a Target location nearby (in fact, in one case the store closed shortly after I moved). Most of the stores were fine and I didn’t have too much trouble shopping. Unfortunately my current store in town is part of a shopping mall and is always too crowded for my taste. Since the start of COVID-19, I’ve been nervous enough in crowded places, and visiting this target place is no fun for me.

2. Stores are usually understocked

Given the pandemic and related supply chain issues of the past three years, it seems like Target rarely has what I’m actually looking for. I tend to buy my over-the-counter medicines, supplements, and other personal care products there, and the last few times I’ve walked into a Target store, the shelves were empty of what I wanted to buy. It’s no fun slogging through mall parking lots, running in stores, dodging other shoppers, and leaving empty-handed.

3. Easy to make impulse purchases

My home office couch is another reason I avoid in-person target runs. It’s a photorealistic dakimakura in the shape of a frosted donut that hooked me on my first visit to Target after months of living in an area with no nearby stores. It’s on sale, and one thing I’ve always wondered about is the clearance section for household items. I don’t want to spend a lot of credit card tabs when shopping at Target, so it’s best to avoid that temptation altogether.

4. Free shipping from your website is easy for me to achieve

If you want free 2-day shipping on orders from Target.com, you must meet a minimum spend of $35. I tend to buy supplements in bulk, so this is an easy number to hit. For less than $35 total, you can add a bottle of body wash and a few goodies for your super spoiled cat (targeting super cute seasonal cat toys and accessories). Target emails me updates about my order. Always fast. I love shopping online and Target provides a great customer experience.

I love Target, but I much prefer being able to keep more money in my bank account by avoiding the temptation to overspend. And since my local stores don’t offer the most enjoyable shopping experience for me, online shopping is a much better fit for my life.
