Self-driving car technology company Aurora Innovation Inc. has appointed Ossa Fisher as president. As the company focuses on expanding the business and preparing for his 2024 commercial launch, Fisher will play a pivotal role in supporting and driving these important initiatives.
She brings over 20 years of leadership experience to Aurora, spanning strategic, operational, and business functions for various technology organizations. From her Itation she joined Aurora and has served as President and Chief Operating Officer since 2019, overseeing various functions of the company including engineering, product, sales, marketing and customer success.
In his role as president, Fisher will report to Chris Urmson, co-founder and CEO of Aurora.
“We are on the cusp of autonomous breakthroughs that will transform the way people and goods move around the world,” says Fisher. “Aurora’s vision, commitment to safety, and world-class partnerships will enable the company to deliver self-driving truck products that will define the industry for years to come. I am very excited and humbled.”
Fisher will be based in Dallas near Aurora’s current vehicle operations center as it continues to expand deliveries and shipments for pilot customers, as well as between Dallas and Houston, and between Fort Worth and El Paso. Aurora works with companies across the transportation ecosystem, including Toyota, FedEx, Volvo Trucks, PACCAR, Uber, Uber Freight, US Xpress, Werner, Covenant, Schneider, and Ryder.
