The road to recreational sales is still up in the air, but now the General Assembly has decided not only to create a framework for retail sales, but also Senator Adam Evin (Democrat-Fairfax ) is considering bills from Care to sell to adults over the age of 21 without a medical card from July.
Even if that bill does pass, it’s still unclear if Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin will sign it.
Reported by WRIC House Speaker Todd Gilbert (R-Shenandoah) said Republicans were waiting for guidance on the creation of Youngkin’s retail cannabis marketplace before the 2023 session, but as of last week, Youngkin was still in the process. Youngkin’s said it was focused on setting regulations on mostly unregulated hemp and delta-8 products.
