Alexander & Baldwin Inc. will undergo a leadership change this summer as Chief Executive Officer Christopher Benjamin retires and is replaced by current A&B President and Chief Operating Officer Lance Parker.
Benjamin will retire on June 30, but will remain a consultant until the end of 2023 to ensure a smooth transition and complete various aspects of A&B’s simplification strategy.
Parker will assume his new position on July 1st.

Benjamin was at the helm in 2016 when A&B phased out its sugar business and Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Co. closed. Also, from 2009 until 2011 he was the general manager of HC&S.
A&B sold 41,000 acres of farmland to Mahi Pono in 2018, but remains a half-owner of the East Maui Irrigation System agricultural company.

Parker, who previously headed A&B’s real estate division, was appointed COO in 2021 and was promoted to president earlier this year. He joined the company in his acquisition role in 2004, and throughout his career at A&B, returned to Hawaii to oversee A&B’s mainland commercial portfolio and develop fully integrated in-house property management and leasing. He has held positions of steadily increasing responsibility. capacity, the news release said.

Born and raised in Hawaii, Parker began his career in commercial real estate in Southern California before returning to the islands to join the firm. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Southern California and is a graduate of the Kamehameha School.
