Ache Around the Lake 8k Raises Funds for St. Luke’s Church

Early Saturday morning, the horn blew at 7:40 am on Lake Lanier. This is his 8.4-kilometer foot race held in his two states that raises funds for the St. Luke’s Foundation.
This year’s run had over 235 attendees at several events. The day featured the Kids 1 Mile Fun Run, Ouch 2 Mile, and signature event Ache Around the Lake 8K. The approximately 5-mile course circles Lake Lanier along Lakeshore Drive.
St. Luke’s Board of Trustees Kim Adams and his daughter Alexandra Adams were two of many volunteers early on a cool October morning. “This is a great event for a great cause, and we’re happy to be a part of it,” said Kim. Alexandra adds, “I enjoy this kind of opportunity to give back to the community. It’s one of her favorite events of the year.”
Amanda Thompson, executive director of the St. Luke’s Foundation, said: All the funds raised will be used to provide hospitals with new CT scanners. ”
Organizer Katie Malone added, “A huge thank you to the Lake Association and all homeowners for supporting the race.” She also shares that this is the first year anyone who names the race will compete. proposed the name “Ash Around the Lake”.
The 8k winner was David Barton with a time of 29:46 and an average of 6:01 minutes per mile. Braxton Edwards of Tryon was second, followed by Branson Reed, Jennifer Fisher and Javin Miller. His A. Eadus and C. Eadus at Tryon finished him first and his second in the two-mile Ouch.
