Bharti Airtel is the first telecom company to enable 5G service in Northeast India. In a recent development, Mizoram Governor Hari Bab Kambanpathi held a meeting with Bharti Airtel’s Zone Officers and Engineers in Raj Bhavan on Friday. During the discussion, they talked about his 5G network implementation strategy in Mizoram and explored ways to enhance digital connectivity in rural areas. He also explained the role that network service providers can play in this effort.

Airtel 5G Plus in Mizoram
At a meeting with State Governor Hari Bab Kambangpati, Airtel officials announced plans to roll out a 5G network in the state. They shared that 5G towers will be installed in 53 locations in Aizawl and 10 in Lunglei. According to their plans, the 5G network will be operational in February 2023 and will be available in all district headquarters in Mizoram by April 2023. Officials also discussed plans to improve digital connectivity in rural areas by increasing fiber networks.

The governor expressed his gratitude and congratulated Bharti Airtel for the initiative to roll out a 5G network in Mizoram next month. We believe it will facilitate a variety of important initiatives on which we depend. He encouraged Bertie’s Airtel and other telecommunications companies operating in the state to make special efforts to improve connectivity in rural areas.

Bharti Airtel 5G Plus in Northeast India
Airtel is the first telecom company to launch 5G service in Northeast India. Airtel will launch 5G Plus service in Guwahati in November 2022, followed by his 5G announcements in Imphal in December 2022 and Shillong and Agartala in January 2023. As a result, Airtel customers in the region can now experience a super-fast network, enjoying speeds of up to 20-30. Currently he is several times faster than 4G speeds. Airtel 5G Plus now works with all his 5G devices supported by Android and Apple. Airtel 5G Plus is now available in 59 cities.
