Representatives from the Bay Area Air Quality Management District will be attending the United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as COP27, and will conduct a series of Twitter Live events throughout the event.
COP27, held in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, is an international summit to discuss and present possible solutions to climate change. Many of the world’s top leaders participate.
The Bay Area Air Management District is a nine-county regional agency responsible for protecting the air quality and global climate of the Bay Area. A representative of the Aviation District will attend the conference from Sunday 13 November until he Friday 18 November. District Committee Chair Jon Bowters and Vice Chair Davina Hart present his Twitter Live event. Bay Area residents can participate in discussions, ask questions, and share concerns by connecting to Air District. twitter and Facebook, the agency said in a statement Wednesday.
“Climate change is increasingly impacting the Bay Area and the world, with disadvantaged communities already overloaded with air pollution being hit hardest.COP27 accelerates rapid greenhouse gas reductions. It is an important place for global sharing of knowledge and tactics to help the world. It is urgent. We will deliver,” said Sharon Landers, Interim Executive Director of the Air District.
Bauters said the climate crisis requires global cooperation and sharing of knowledge and resources to enable everyone to achieve sustainable development.
