Bobby Cornwell of the Florida RV Parks and Campgrounds Association recently reached out to snowbird and Florida enthusiasts with some good news.
Florida is adding 3,596 new RV sites through a mix of new and expanded RV parks and resorts.
New parks are being built across the state, from Gainesville to the Tampa Bay Area to the Florida Keys. According to the Florida Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds, Florida has more new RV parks and resorts than any other state in the nation, and more parks are being expanded.

The Florida Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds issued the following press release.
“At least eight new RV resorts are coming online between 2022 and 2024, and many existing resorts are adding more RV sites, increasing Florida’s inventory by at least 3,596 sites.
New RV resorts are popping up all over Florida, from the Florida Panhandle to the Tampa Bay Area to the Florida Keys.
Zeman Homes just opened The Surf RV Resort, a luxury 449-property RV resort in Palmetto, and Sun Outdoors is set to open a new 136-property Sun Outdoors Islamorada in the Florida Keys.
New resorts opening this fall include the 95-site Madison Station RV Resort in Madison and the Roserush Luxury RV Resort with 50 premium RV sites in Brooksville, approximately 50 miles north of Tampa.
These are in addition to three other RV resorts that opened last year, including Champions Run RV Resort, a 387-site RV resort in Ocala. Gainesville’s 115 Site Santa Fe Palms RV Resort. 164 site Southern Springs RV Resort in Ocala.
Meanwhile, at least seven parks in Florida are adding RV sites.
“Between 2022 and 2024, Florida will add at least 3,596 new RV sites to its existing inventory,” said Bobby Cornwell, executive director and CEO of the Florida RV Parks and Campgrounds Association. He added that more new RV resorts and park expansions are planned by Florida developers who are not yet ready to announce their projects.
Cornwell said the new RV resorts will be added to the travel planning website CampFlorida.com, giving consumers the latest information on new RV resorts opening statewide.
8 new RV sites in Florida
Champions Run RV Resort in Ocala
Sunlight Resorts will open this park with 387 RV sites in 2022. Amenities include a full-service Tiki his bar, large swimming pool and hot tub, fully equipped fitness center, and pickleball courts.
Madison Station RV Resort in Madison
Southeastern Resort Development broke ground on the 95-site park this month and is expected to open in September.
Roserush Luxury RV Resort in Brooksville
Dale G. Seiden of Open Air Properties LLC is developing the park. The park is set to open this fall with 50 premium RV sites and 12 luxury glamping tents overlooking a small lake and fountain.
Activities nearby including golf, hiking, biking, mountain biking, ziplining, ATVing.
Santa Fe Palms RV Resort in Gainesville
This 115-plot park will open in 2022. This pet-friendly park has facilities such as swimming pools, nature trails, pickleball his courts, and cornhole. High-speed WiFi is also available throughout the park.
Southern Springs RV Resorts in Ocala
Developed by the late Alan Wallace, the park will open in 2022 with 164 sites.
Sun Outdoors Southern Leisure RV Resort in Chiefland
The new 55+ parks opened for the first time year-round in 2022. A 7,000-square-foot clubhouse, outdoor kitchen, Olympic-sized swimming pool and spa are among the resort’s amenities.
Additionally, there are bocceball, pickleball and shuffleboard courts as well as sewing and quilting studios.
Sun Outdoor Islamorada in Islamorada
This 136-site park is scheduled to open in the spring. Features 82 of his RV sites and 54 manufactured home sites.
Amenities include a clubhouse with billiards and fitness room, swimming pool, salt water pool, artificial beach, fire pit lounge, and approximately 47 boat slips.
The Surf RV Resort in Palmetto
Developed by Zeman Homes, this luxury RV resort opened December 1 at 449 sites.
Amenities include a resort-style swimming pool and tiki bar. Clubhouse and fitness center, pickleball courts, dog park. Organized activities and special events are also planned during the winter months.

10 Expanding Florida RV Resorts
Breezy Oaks RV Park in Bushnell
All 217 sites within the park are connected to high-speed Internet service. Park owner Mike Wood also plans to expand the park so that from 2023 he will have another 181 sites available during the winter of 2024.
Creekside RV Resorts in Punta Gorda
The park is slated to begin construction later this year with Phase 3, which includes about 100 RV sites that will be available in 2024.
Keystone Heights RV Resort in Keystone Heights
The park is adding 292 sites with its third expansion, which is expected to be completed in late February or early March, according to park general manager Ken Lloyd.
Phase 3 has a much larger pad than the other phases in the resort and includes a second swimming pool of 2,700 square feet, additional laundry and bath houses, and other amenities.
Grays Resort in Moore Haven
97 sites have been added to this Central Florida park. Amenities include a unique championship 9-hole golf course, an on-site restaurant and a unique freshwater marina located along the Caloosahachee River 14 miles west of Lake Okeechobee, 11 miles west of Moorhaven Rock and 4.5 miles east of Altona Rock. will be
Terra Seia RV Resort in Palmetto
This Angkor/Thousand Trails Park is currently working on expanding the resort with 190 new full hookup, 50 amp RV sites.
The project also features new facilities such as a clubhouse, swimming pool, bathhouse and pickleball court. Completion is scheduled for the first half of 2023.
Thousand Trails Orlando RV Resort in Clermont
This Thousand Trails Park added 165 new RV sites to the resort in 2020. Phase 2 will be completed in 2022, with another 90 new full hookups, 50 amps of his RV site completed in 2022.
A new bathhouse and amenity upgrade have also been completed in the plan.
Torrey Trails RV & Golf Resort in Bowling Green
This luxury resort’s first 158 RV sites will be completed in 2020. An additional 210 RV sites will be added in 2022. Resort co-owner and developer Amir Harpaz added that additional sites would “probably” be added in 2024.
The scenic park was built on an existing golf course site featuring mature oak trees. Amenities include a 9-hole golf course. 65,000 gallon pool. A state-of-the-art fitness center with indoor and outdoor sections. Tennis, shuffleboard and pickleball courts. Dog park and doggie splash pool.
Sunshine Travel RV Resort in Vero Beach
This Encore/Thousand Trails Park is about to complete 24 new full hookup, 50 amp RV sites this year. Sunshine Travel also has a new pickleball court.
Travelers Campgrounds in Alachua
Park owner Mike Wood plans to expand the 158-site park to an additional 50-200 sites. All 158 sites are connected to high-speed Internet service.
Wildwood RV Village in Wildwood
The park will add 159 new RV sites in 2022, all of which are for wired rental with high-speed internet service. The park currently has 504 sites.
