The Queensland-based company has tested nine guided weapon systems, including four from its new POD system.
In developing the weapon system, the company utilized its own rocket propellant. BSA confirms it is the first Australian private operator to demonstrate this capability.
Blake Nikolic, chief executive of Black Sky Aerospace, said the rocket test is in response to a recent federal government request to increase the company’s weapons capabilities.
“There are companies in Australia already tackling this challenge. Rather than waiting until it is too late, we will proactively develop systems so that events do not overtake us,” said Nikolic.

“We are currently testing and collecting data for further development of the guidance system. BSA and its partners are making progress and completing it quickly.
“Development, integration and operations have been exciting challenges for us, but our heritage in rocket platforms and explosives manufacturing provided the foundation for this successful demonstration round.”
In a statement, Nikolic explained that strengthening Australia’s sovereign supply chain has enabled the country to develop guided weapons within five years.
“The success of these layoffs comes from a very talented group of Australians working together to create Australia’s industrial capacity. ‘ continued Nikolic.
The launch is expected to allow the company to improve on the next tranche of missile tests expected over the next few months.
