Retailers across Canada now have access to a free online and bilingual cybersecurity program.
The program, called the Retail CyberSecure Program, is an initiative of the Retail Council of Canada, IT and loss prevention experts, the Ontario Police Department, and the Ontario Government’s Attorney General’s Department.
The site now links to previously published cybersecurity awareness articles by the Retail Council, Statistics Canada’s latest report on the impact of cybercrime, and the Small Business Cybersecurity Corner of the US National Institute of Technology.
There will be 6 free webinars to attend, the first of which will be held next week.
Ultimately, the site includes the latest industry resources on reducing retail cybercrime, downloadable guidebooks, videos on phishing, pharming, identifying threats, and best practices for retail cybercrime prevention. Includes links to e-learning modules for training industry employees.
Rui Rodrigues, Executive Advisor, Loss Prevention and Risk Management, Retail Council, said: said in a statement.
“We are excited to work with a wide range of experts to develop tools and strategies that can be used to better protect against this unfortunately growing number of malicious activities.”
The Retail Council of Canada says it represents more than 45,000 stores of all retail formats, including department stores, grocery stores, specialty stores, discount stores, independent retailers and online merchants.
