The 2022 Breeders’ Cup World Championship continued on Saturday with nine Grade 1 races, culminating in the Breeders’ Cup Classic.
This year’s event will be held at Keeneland Racecourse in Lexington, Kentucky, and will feature several accomplished Thoroughbreds and a long list of the sport’s biggest names among trainers and jockeys.
With at least $1 million in prize money for every race, it’s one of the biggest days of the year in American racing. Here’s a breakdown of each event that updates throughout the day.
Mare and Mare Sprint (Million Dollar Purse)

The seven-furlong race is known to feature the fastest female sprinters in the world, and Goodnight Olive outperformed the rest. , was in the middle of the pack.
Defending champion Ce Ce couldn’t close out like last year, finishing in 4th place.

Caravelle performed a big upset as the 42 to 1 underdog, winning the 5 ½ furlong race. No. 10 went to the front on the final turn and remained ahead despite late claims from Emaraaty Ana and Creative Force who ran out of grass before the finish line.
Local trainer Brad Cox continued his impressive run with his ninth Breeders’ Cup win at the event.

After starting at the back of the pack, Cody’s Wish rounded the outside and set up a neck-to-neck finish against Cyberknife. Cody’s wish wins in the nose, unbelievable story With Make-A-Wish teenager Cody Dorman.
It was the 4-year-old colt’s 7th victory in his last 8 starts.

In Italian entered as favorites, grabbed an early lead and looked set for a wire-to-wire win after holding off the final stretch. It took a tremendous charge to jump to the front of the pack from Tuesday and pass In his Italian in the last minute before the finish line.
It was just the third career win for the Irish Thoroughbred.

The five furlong sprint doesn’t leave much time to pace himself, but Elite Power has found a way to take first place in the prestigious race. His jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. rounded out the strong by performing his move outside the Thoroughbred and earned a share of the $2 million prize money.
This represents Elite Power’s fifth straight win in 2022.
