A long-established building in downtown Gladewater has new owners and a new location in the heart of the city’s future.
Brittni Pierson and her business partner Lana Neimann purchased the St. Clair Antique Emporium at 104 Pacific Ave. this summer.
The building has been around since the 1940s and was once home to the St. Clair Hotel and Cafe, Pearson said. Both women own other businesses, which Pearson describes as having an “entrepreneurial spirit.” Purchasing the building was a way to help revitalize downtown Gladewater, she said.
“We just wanted to bring in something new that brings East Texas closer and tours local spots,” said Pearson, adding that Gladewater has “cool downtown wineries,” hot tea shops, and New place to eat now. Pearson and Neiman continue to operate the antique store, but they also opened The Clair Cafe & Tea Room in the building.
Clare Café serves hot teas made from loose-leaf teas from Three Roots Boutique in downtown Gladewater. The menu includes espresso drinks, scones, other pastries, paninis, cold sandwiches, soups, and salads.
Pierson and Neimann remodeled the first floor of the building. After the first of this year, they began work on transforming the second floor into 13 luxurious bed and breakfast rooms, some of which have kitchenettes.
Hours of operation are 7 AM-4 PM Sunday and Monday and 7 AM-8 PM Tuesday-Saturday.
