The Coldwell Banker Commercial MECA will become effective on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 and will be named MECA Commercial Real Estate.
After 20 years as an affiliate of Coldwell Banker Commercial, the principals of MECA decided not to renew the affiliate.
“We have enjoyed our time as CBC Affiliates and are proud to be one of the top 10 successful companies in our network worldwide,” Rob Presley, president of MECA Commercial Real Estate, said in a statement released by the company. “However, we believe the time is right to return to being an independent company. For this reason, we believe now is the time to make a change and serve our clients as MECA Commercial Real Estate.”
MECA Commercial Real Estate’s roots go back to the 1950s when Robert H. Pressley began investing in income properties. MECA Properties was incorporated in 1975 at the recommendation of his son Anthony “Tony” T. Pressley, who headed the company from 1980 until his 2010.
In 2003, Tony’s son Robert A. “Rob” Pressley spearheaded the company’s effort to spin off the commercial brokerage and administration business and partner with Coldwell Banker Commercial. In 2013, Caldwell expanded his banker his commercial MECA by partnering with current company partners Clay Realty his Advisor Principal Robert His Clay and Eric Cray.
The rebranding will coincide with the move of the two MECA Commercial Real Estate offices. The company’s Charlotte headquarters will move to the historic Dowd House, which the company has extensively renovated and expanded.
In addition, MECA Commercial Real Estate’s Gaston-based office has moved to a temporary space in the McAdenville while the new office in the Dynamo 31 building is completed. The South Carolina office will remain at its current location on Main Street in downtown Rock Hill.
For many, MECA is best known for its leading role in the revitalization of Charlotte’s South End neighborhood. Early development activity along the South Boulevard Corridor has resulted in innovative projects such as Atherton Mill and the Carolina Design Center.
This early pioneer contributed to the explosive growth the South End has experienced over the last two decades.
