Dawn P. Warren Makes History in the Real Estate Business

Lutcher — With the grand opening of a new office building at 1356 Lutcher Avenue this month, Dawn P. Warren will make history as the first African-American woman to open a brick-and-mortar real estate office in St. James Parish. I’m here.
Warren is the owner of and the property that houses Premiere Choice Realty LLC. She was from the River Parish and was raised on the west bank of the Parish of John the Baptist of Edgard, when she moved across the river to Laplace at the age of ten.
Warren said the historical importance of her new office hasn’t fully penetrated yet.
“It’s hard to believe we’re in 2022, but I’m first. I’m still trying to take it all in, but it feels good. It inspires me and helps other people.” I hope it inspires you to keep pushing to do more,” said Warren.
In addition to holding a licensed real estate broker, Warren holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing/management from Southeastern Louisiana University and a master’s degree in leadership and homeland security from Grand Canyon University.
Warren’s grandmother, Eura Johnson, who died last summer, encouraged her to jump into the real estate business 22 years ago. I knew I could achieve the same success while building.
After four years in the real estate business, Warren underwent additional training to become a licensed broker in 2004. In 2011, she founded her own company in St. John’s Parish. It didn’t take long for locals to get used to Premiere’s Choice Her Realty’s hilarious catchphrase.
Warren has served east and west bank homebuyers in the parishes of St. John, St. James and St. Charles, in addition to parts of Tanguipahoa, Ascension and Jefferson Parish.
“What I am most passionate about is seeing people who have been renting all their lives decide to be the first in their families to buy a home,” said Warren. “Once the first person buys a home, other families start realizing it’s possible.”
One of Warren’s former clients, Anna Frank, has been living happily in her home since August 2019. Frank was still a child when she met Warren through the Milesville Memorial Church in St. She John Parish.
“She watched me grow into the woman I am today, and when it came time to buy a house, I realized she was very supportive of her business. , she was my go-to girl,” said Frank.
The first steps in the process were difficult for Frank as he worked to gain job security and improve his credit score. When she got the job to make her home-buying dream a reality, she and Warren agreed it was time to start gearing up and push the paperwork forward.
“All in all, it was a very educational experience, but I’d never had it with anyone else,” Frank said. Told me what’s good and what’s bad.She has all the people she can count on and they’re as sweet as she is.We’re talking about buying a house, building a house, and selling a house. I recommend her to everyone.”
Despite the fluctuating market challenges, Warren said it’s always a better time to buy than rent.
“The challenges we face now, especially in the River Parish area, are the high costs and interest rates on flood insurance, and at some point just a few months ago we were hit with a housing shortage. We returned and now we have a lot of homes,” Warren said.
Another trend Warren foresees is a renewed focus on multifamily housing as more homeowners look to rent to tenants to generate additional income.

The community is invited to join the River Region Chamber of Commerce on Monday, November 21 at noon for the grand opening and ribbon cutting at its new office at 1356 Lutcher Avenue.
