Dell Technologies today announced the launch of a new digital inclusion program in India. It aims to improve living standards and increase employment opportunities for young people and women in six ambitious districts. Developed as part of the Solar Community Hub portfolio, his six solar powered vans equipped with PC technology, 4G connectivity and access to digital services will be deployed in underserved communities.
Solar-powered vans have been identified as aspiring districts including Yadgir (Karnataka), Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Ramanathapuram (Tamil Nadu), Agartala (Tripura), Haridwar (Uttarakhand) and Kalahandi (Odisha) Serving six identified communities. These districts have been identified by the Government of India as districts with low socio-economic indicators. The program’s goal is to positively impact 2 million people by March 2023 through opportunities for digital inclusion.
Dell Technologies executives Chuck Whitten (Co-Chief Operating Officer) and Alok Ohrie (President and Managing Director India) hosted the opening ceremony at Karnataka Public School in Jeevan Bhima Nagar, Bengaluru.
