Each week, the dishes are carefully selected to pair perfectly with the local wines. The region is particularly lenient for winemaking as it is completely surrounded by water and the winds and sea temperatures are perfect for wine. The fall harvest season is a great time to discover local bottling.
After 43 years in business in Southampton Village, Schmidt’s Market Dennis and Dan Schmidt, the father-son duo who manage the market, were informed by the property owner earlier this year that the property would be put on the market. Mr. and Mrs. Schmidt are looking for another location to reopen their beloved business, eyeing locations from West Hampton Beach to East He Hampton. I always appreciate Schmidt’s Market for morning coffee, egg sandwiches, and fresh produce.

slow food east end We’re teaming up with Jamesport Farmstead to celebrate the fall harvest with a festival dedicated to fermentation. A cabbage cornucopia was planted for an event honoring 200 years of cabbage growing and harvesting on Long Island. We will also hold a workshop to make it.
