Citi ThankYou® Points Promo Details

Cardholders of the Citi Custom Cash® Card can earn an unlimited additional 4 ThankYou Points per dollar spent on hotels, rental cars and attractions booked through the Citi Travel portal powered by Booking.com.

Even better, this promo can stack with existing earnings on the Citi Custom Cash® Card. The Custom Cash regularly earns 5% cash back on purchases in a top eligible spend category each billing cycle, up to the first $500 in spending each billing cycle and 1% cash back on all other purchases. If travel is your top eligible spending category, you could earn 9 ThankYou Points per dollar, up to the first $500 spent in a billing cycle, on eligible travel booked through the Citi Travel portal. With this bonus, that’s 5 points per dollar for your top spending category plus the additional 4 points per dollar.

If eligible travel is not your top spending category, but instead it’s something like home improvement, earnings will accrue at 5 ThankYou Points per dollar spent instead of 9 points per dollar.

Citi Promo Details

  • Valid through June 30, 2025
  • Eligible travel for the bonus includes hotels, rental cars and attractions
  • Flights are not considered eligible travel for this promo

Is the Citi Promo a Good Deal?

Earning more points is always a plus, but using an issuer’s travel portal is not usually the best way to book travel. The Citi Travel portal is run by Booking.com, a third-party platform. Most hotels will not honor elite status or allow you to earn points or elite night credit for reservations on third-party bookings like this.

This promo gets more interesting if you hold a card like the Citi Premier® Card. Pairing the Custom Cash with the Citi Premier® Card, you can combine the points and use them with over 15 airline and hotel transfer partners. Transferring points to an airline or hotel to book travel directly is often where you’ll get the most value from your points.

At the end of the day, if you max out this promo along with the ongoing category bonus, you’ll earn an additional 4,500 points each billing cycle through the end of the promotion. That’s 9 points per dollar on the $500 spending limit per billing cycle.

How To Maximize Citi ThankYou Points

Citi ThankYou Points transfer to popular airlines and hotels like JetBlue Airways, Turkish Airlines, Wyndham Rewards and more, with plenty of sweet spots to book.

One way to get the most out of your ThankYou Points is to transfer to Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles miles at a 1:1 ratio and book a bargain flight to Hawaii. These award flights became more expensive recently after Turkish Airlines updated its award chart. But, you can still get to Hawaii from the U.S. on Star Alliance partner United Airlines for only 10,000 Turkish Miles&Smiles miles, whether you’re flying from Los Angeles, New York or somewhere inbetween.

New York to Honolulu for 10,000 miles

Los Angeles to Honolulu for 10,000 miles

Austin, Texas to Honolulu for 10,000 miles

Bottom Line

Citi ThankYou Points can add immense value to your travel plans and experiences. Earning points is half of the fun, and this promo allows you to earn at a significantly higher rate than the already elevated earnings on the Citi Custom Cash® Card. You can earn an additional 4,500 points each billing cycle through June 30, 2025 between this promo and the ongoing category bonus. Remember there are limitations to booking in Citi’s travel portal, so consider that before going out of your way to earn these extra points.
