It’s no secret that “Delilah (pull me out of this)” explores a wide range of emotions. Especially about asking loved ones to pull you away from anxiety episodes and anxiety-inducing situations. Fred, who explores the power of human connection, tells Zane Lowe:
“I think the feeling that really got me hooked was like trying to capture a fleeting moment and try to maximize the beauty within it. Sometimes when you watch it in slow motion, you’re like, “Oh, wow.” It has a whole new emotional framing. I was so obsessed with the feeling that you get when you hold something in your hand… I think that’s why I was so obsessed with the first guy I sampled. Hummingbird in slow motion before if you know what I mean. I love that we are doing it now. is a verb. More to all you hummingbirds… yep, that’s…”
Also expressing his appreciation for being able to create music on the go without being tied down to a studio, he said:
“For me, the fact that you can make music anywhere is like… if you look at people in the ’70s and you think, ‘Why are you trying to record in a studio? But for me, 90% of the time…well, especially if you’re working on your own project. If you’re with someone I get it, you might need to have something. It’s like you can just be in the world.I think that’s the ultimate gift. Just a conveyor belt of this kind of soft excitement passing by. ”
