Mukesh Ambani tops the list of richest Indians in 2021, followed by Gautam Adani to secure the second spot. According to Forbes, Savitri Jindal has emerged as India’s richest woman and she ranked her seventh on the list of the top 10 richest people in India.
New Delhi: We all know that wealth will not remain static especially during the fluctuating industry scenario we are facing due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Even in this tough situation that continues to do so, India has produced several billionaires who occupy quite a few slots in today’s list of the world’s richest people. So, here is the list of the top 10 richest people in India by Forbes.
1) Mukesh Ambani
The chairman of Reliance Industries, who has a net worth of $92.7 billion, once again tops the list, according to Forbes. During the lockdown, Ambani raised $20 billion by selling his one-third stake in Jio to investors such as his Google and Facebook. He has held the top spot for over ten years.
2) Gautam Adani
The infrastructure tycoon has a net worth of $74.8 billion. Apart from infrastructure, he also has business interests in power generation and transmission, cooking oil and real estate. Interestingly, Adani owns his 74% stake in Mumbai International Airport.
3) Shiv Nadar
The co-founder of HCL, who has a net worth of $31 billion, ranked third this year. He is a leading philanthropist and Shiv has donated over $662 million of his to the Nadar Foundation. His daughter, Roshni Nadar Malhotra, is the current Chairman of HCL Technologies.
Four) Radakishan Damani
Damani has a net worth of $29.4 billion. He owns 214 of his DMart stores nationwide. In 2017, he became India’s retail king after his successful IPO of his supermarket chain Avenue Supermart.
Five) Cyrus Poonawalla
Founder of the Serum Institute of India, Poonawalla has a net worth of $19 billion. SII is the world’s largest vaccine manufacturer. During and after the second wave of Covid-19, the majority of Indians were vaccinated with his Covishield, a product of his SII.
6) Lakshmi Mittal
Chairman of ArcelorMittal, the world’s largest steel and mining company, Mittal has a net worth of $18.8 billion. He frequently appears on lists of richest Indians. In January 2021, Mittal gave his CEO position to his son Aditya Mittal.
7) Savitri Jindal
The richest Indian woman, Jindal has a net worth of $18 billion. She is the chairman of Jindal Group, which was founded by her late husband Om Prakash Jindal. In 2005, after Jindal’s sudden death, the group split into her four sons.
8) Uday Kotaku
Founder of Kotak Mahindra Bank, Uday Kotak has a net worth of $16.5 billion. Now one of his top four private banks in the country, the bank was converted into a bank from a financial company that Kotak founded in 1985. He was initially assisted by the banker Anand his Mahindra.
9) Parongi Mistry
Well-known construction and engineering giant Shapoorji Pallonji Group is effectively controlled by Mistry. His net worth is $16.4 billion. Interestingly, SP Group also owns the water filter brand Eureka Forbes.
Ten) Kumar Birla
Head of the Aditya Birla Group, Birla has a net worth of $15.8 billion. In India, it is also known as the “commodity king”. He inherited the empire after his father Aditya Birla died in 1995.
