I am a professional Christmas consultant. So you earn money by decorating other people’s homes and businesses for the Christmas season.

“What are you going to do until the end of the year?” is probably the question you ask every day.

Despite what most people think, it’s a full-time job. Even in the middle of summer, I think of festive wreaths, lights, baubles, and pine trees.

In January, my team and I remove all the decorations we put up in October, November, and December. Businesses are usually keen to switch to more seasonal decor, so they start with commercial displays and then move on to residential.

As soon as everything has been removed, the whole Christmas business will start again.

A lot of planning is required. We organize many commercial transactions at the beginning of the year, after which we begin to develop plans, draft designs, and create unique decorations.

Many of our designs are bespoke, so we spend months creating or commissioning specialized pieces.

September usually starts with a flood of new calls asking for luxury home decorating. Our customers are people who want real luxury and can afford it.

I work closely with all my clients to ensure that I give them exactly what they want. I’ll offer some advice, but it’s really all up to them.

My lowest price for decorating a home is £1,500 (just over $1,800). Our lights are commercial grade so they are much brighter than you’ll find on the high street.

My rates include all decorations, but my clients usually add their own sentimental items.

It takes about two hours to decorate a standard eight-foot tree with the help of one of our team members.

I use at least 360 baubles, but this is just the base. People are paying more for more personalized and elaborate displays.

After that, you can simply put anything on the tree. Hang lanterns, birdcages, feathers, flowers, mirrors and large clumps of wood. I always look for unique items when I go for a walk.

My philosophy is: If you can hang it, you can put it on the tree.

I don’t have any special tools to decorate people’s homes. It’s just me and my hands.

Most people view festive decorations as a personal activity to do with their children, but everyone is different.

Some women said, “No, I don’t want my children to touch the trees.” I am not that kind of person. Children love to participate.

When decorating as a family, decorate the base of the tree yourself, and then let the children do the sentimental decorations together with the parents.

That means you get the best of both worlds: a personal touch and a professional touch.

For example, I noticed that the color scheme has changed quite a bit this year. Jewel color is very popular.

I recently decorated a wonderful home in the East of England. It has an indoor slide which I incorporated into the decor. The woman who owned it chose pastel colors of blue, pink, and purple.

All my clients love Christmas, so they like to go out. One of which she has her tree in her house for her 5 Christmases. All of them are completely unique to match each room’s decor and color scheme.

I still decorate my house all the time, but I have to do it sooner rather than later. My kids and I put up our Christmas tree around November 1st.
