CLIVE, Iowa—The Iowa Polk Producers Association (IPPA) is looking for the next class of Iowans to join the Iowa Polk Leadership Academy (IPLA). Develop leadership skills, develop an understanding of state and national policy decisions, and travel the country to meet farmers from other states.
The IPLA aims to equip you with the ability to lead the swine industry today and tomorrow. The application deadline for the 2023 IPLA class is November 30, 2022.

Here are the tools IPLA attendees will get in the 2023 programme:
· A working knowledge of the Iowa Pork Producers Association and other key organizations working with the IPPA to expand horizons and build coalitions.
· Understand and define leadership styles and how they affect people working together in groups.
· A better understanding of the pork industry and its economic contribution to Iowa, and how it affects Iowa’s position in the world.When
· Strengthen written and verbal communications and messages on pig farming and pork.
The Academy will begin with an introductory session in February 2023 and will meet four times in 2023. The program will culminate with the group’s graduation at the Iowa Pork Congress in January 2024.
The current IPLA class will graduate at an awards ceremony at the 2023 IPPA Annual Meeting on January 24, 2023.
These members are: Des Moines County – Haley Carr, Oakville. Howard County – Haley Waddell, Protivin. Johnson County – Matthew Ruda of Iowa City. Lynn County – Matthew Groove, Center Point.
Also Plymouth County – Trevor Harson, Hinton, Colin Schroeder, Le Mars. Polk County – Eleanor Colm of Des Moines, Katie Tupper of Urbandale. Story County – Jeb Ghent of Ames and Stacy Machan of Gilbert.
