Former PBS NewsHour anchor honored for bravery in journalism award
Washington, February 1, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — The International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF) is today the organization’s co-founder and respected broadcast journalist Judy Woodruff This year’s IWMF Courage in Journalism Leadership Honoree. In addition to her pioneering role with the IWMF, Woodruff will be recognized for her contributions to gender equality in journalism, press freedom, and award-winning, impartial news production.

Judy Woodruff Hosts 2018 IWMF Courage in Journalism Awards
Woodruff, along with several influential women in journalism, co-founded IWMF in 1989 as a way to increase access and opportunities for women journalists around the world.Continuing with Woodruff’s vision, the IWMF last year nearly $600,000 reported grants to 208 journalists, funded 340 articles published in over 120 media, $417,000 We provide emergency assistance to over 160 journalists around the world. Additionally, 530 journalists and 20 newsrooms have participated in his IWMF-led physical and digital security training, and more than 1.6 million journalists have completed the organization’s self-paced safety courses.
