LATEST RECOVERY GRANTS
Several communities have launched recovery and enhancement grant programs this week to support the business community. Read below for these opportunities.
Holyoke Microenterprise Grant Program
Holyoke, Massachusetts is launching a microenterprise grant program to help small businesses cover operating costs. Funding for this program comes from the U.S. Department of Housing Community Development Block Grants. The city has over $300,000 in distributions. Each grant offers between $1,000 and $10,000. To qualify, a small business must have five or fewer employees and be in a low- or middle-income household. Grants can cover a variety of operating costs, from rent and utilities to equipment purchases. The application period will remain open until the funds are distributed.
Activate Harlingen
Harlingen, Texas offers matching grants of up to $10,000 to small businesses seeking to complete exterior renovations. The Revitalize Harlingen program has allocated a total of $150,000 to eligible small businesses west of the city. The city also wants to expand the program to other areas. The city is hosting an informational meeting for interested small businesses on February 9.
Westfield Business Blueprint Program
Westfield, Massachusetts is launching a Community Development Block Grants program to help small businesses in certain areas of the city. Known as The Business Blueprint Program, the program was originally launched in 2021 to support the pandemic recovery. This round focuses on helping business owners develop financial plans and strengthen their leadership through an eight-week course. To qualify, Westfield’s business must have been in business for less than three years and the owner’s income must be less than his 80% of the local median income.
Mercer County Small Business Grant Program
Mercer County, New Jersey devotes $3.5 million of its US Rescue Plans Act allocation to small business grant programs. The Mercer County Small Business Grant Program provides direct financial relief to local businesses hit hard by the pandemic. The program offers grants of up to $10,000. Also, businesses must have a physical location in Mercer County to be eligible.
San Francisco Flood Disaster Relief Fundraising Program
San Francisco is offering several new resources to help small businesses affected by the recent floods and winter storms. Businesses located within flood zones of affected cities can apply for up to $5,000. Businesses that suffer damage but are located outside the city’s flood zone may qualify for up to $2,000. Grants are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to companies with the greatest need. The application period is now open and will close on February 10th.
Tacoma Small Business Rehabilitation Grant
The Tacoma, Washington, Department of Community and Economic Development is now accepting applications for the city’s Small Business Restoration Grant Program. This program provides financial assistance to small businesses in need of property damage repair and market expansion opportunities. Eligible businesses can apply for up to $3,000 to cover store damage that occurs after January 1, 2022. Also, up to $20,000 is available for small businesses seeking to meet permit requirements to open or maintain a physical store location. The application deadline is February 2nd.
