Groups of riders traveled a 3- to 5-mile course, jumping over obstacles and running through water.
LEXINGTON, Kentucky (WTVQ) – Hundreds of jockeys and jockeys from inside and outside the Commonwealth gathered at Masterson Station Park on Sunday to raise money for a good cause.
Sunday was the Masterson Equestrian Trust’s annual Benefit Hunter Pace. The Trust is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving parks for equestrian use.
This fundraiser helps MET organizers maintain park facilities for horse shows and daily activities.
“We are really excited to host an event like this and to be able to put all of the proceeds back into the park to support the community of riders here, not just in Lexington, but in the surrounding area. Christine Siegel, president of the Son Equestrian Trust, said, “It’s really great to see people coming from all over the world, as we have people coming from surrounding states. We also have Lexington Fayette Urban County Government We’ll be able to rent the facility from Parks and Recreation, so we’ll keep it on board, and it’ll be a fun season for shows all year round.”
The Benefit Hunter Pace takes place on the first Sunday in November each year.

“The best thing for me coming here and watching you all is seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces. And I can hear the laughter across the park. It’s just echoing here and everyone is having so much fun.” I’m passing the time,” Siegel said.
Jockeys entered costume contests, won prizes, drank apple cider, and enjoyed a leisurely ride with friends without the pressure of a typical horse show event.
