Following their first conference victory of the season over Penn State, Michigan State returned home to face the Ivy League Browns. The Spartans got off to a slow start but quickly bounced back to dominate the game and win 68-50.
A common theme for 2022, Michigan State University was again led by Joey Hauser, AJ Hoggard and Tyson Walker, all three finishing in double digits.
Two milestones were also achieved on Saturday, with Joey Hauser scoring his 1,000th career point and Davis Smith, son of Spartan legend Steve Smith, scoring his first career point in a Spartan uniform.
Starting and starting the game was difficult for the Spartans as the Bears slowed the pace to start the game. Just 10 minutes into the game, Michigan State took the lead with his low scoring of 11-10. The next ten minutes he was a different story.
MSU continued their 21-8 run over the next ten minutes with a 14-point lead, 32-18 going into the half.
Both teams struggled to shoot basketball in the first half, with MSU shooting 38.7%, 3-30.8% from the field, and Brown shooting 23.3%, 3-27.3% from the field.
There was no late start for MSU in the second half. The Spartans came out as hot as they left the first half and quickly put the game away.
The Spartans built a lead of over 20 and were able to bring in Steven Izzo, Davis Smith, and Nick Sanders on walk-ons, greatly catering to crowd liking.
MSU ended up beating the Bears 68-50.
Hauser led with 22 points, Hoggard added 17 and Walker scored 10.
Michigan State University will face the Oakland Golden Grizzlies at the Breslin Center on Wednesday, December 21 at 6:30 PM ET.
