South Lake Tahoe, CA – Liberty Utilities announced the promotion of Lindsay Maruncic to Senior Operations Director. Maruncic oversees day-to-day operations as well as the development and implementation of business and organizational strategy. She is based out of her South Lake Tahoe office, but she also takes her time in North Lake Tahoe.
Maruncic was previously Director of Renewable Energy, where he managed the development and implementation of Liberty’s 100% renewable energy, net zero initiative. Maruncic holds a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences, a Master of Business Administration in International Gas and Oil Management, a Master of Laws in International Energy Policy and is currently working on a Master of Science in Finance.
“We are excited about the opportunity to move Liberty’s business forward and continue our commitment to providing safe, reliable and sustainable electrical services to our customers and communities,” said Maruncic. We have a number of important projects and priorities moving forward for 2023, with our continued commitment to our top priority.”
In 2023, Liberty will continue to focus on improving wildfire mitigation infrastructure, including installing more covered conductors (wires), replacing fuses, and fast trip sensors. Liberty’s vegetation management program also continues the important work of keeping lines and infrastructure away from potential vegetation hazards to maintain safety and reduce outages. In addition to safe and reliable projects, Liberty will continue its efforts to reduce its reliance on purchased electricity and further expand its renewable energy generation portfolio.
“Renewable energy projects are exciting and in high demand by many of our customers, but we recognize that recent power outages have left some customers unhappy, and we are working on projects that further improve reliability. We are working very hard to evaluate and implement it,” said Maruncic. “When you live in the mountains, you get severe weather events like 100 mph winds, blizzards that bring down several feet of snow at a time, and wildfires, all of which can lead to power outages. We continue to prepare for these situations with the goal of reducing their duration, however we cannot prevent all outages and in some cases the outages may be prolonged, so we ask all customers to We recommend that you prepare for the situation.”
Liberty said its customers and community remain its top priority. Under Maruncic’s new leadership, Liberty said it will continue to support its customers’ growing needs and expectations in the face of environmental concerns, new technologies and increasing safety regulations.
