Rep. Lance Crowe has led the Idaho House Committee for the fifth consecutive year. He’s just sitting in another chair.
The Twin Falls Republican was assigned to chair the new-looking House Business Committee on Friday after four years on the front lines of the school board.
Nearly half of the state’s 70 legislators will be newly elected in 2023 — only D-Bellevue’s Crowe and Ned Burns remain — among eight seats in four districts covering Magic Valley — Moyle told the House of Commons: ‘ entered the final decision on the commission’s assignments.
“I think some people are really happy and some people aren’t so happy,” Moyle told the Idaho Capital Sun. “We were trying to do what was best for the whole.”

Moyle’s election to the top of the House of Representatives leadership positions in this week’s election puts him ahead of the 2023 Congress, which begins Jan. 9, the same day Gov. Brad Little delivers his annual state address. It’s one of the myriad of changes planned.
Moyle, a 12th-term Republican with a star background, succeeded Lieutenant Governor Scott Bedke (R-Oakley), who had held the position for 10 years.
The return of Magic Valley MP R-Fairfield Steve Miller is one of the changes. Miller, who lost his seat in 2018, won the election again in November and was quickly rewarded with the seat of appropriations committee vice chair on Friday.
Miller will also serve on the Personnel Commission, the Transportation Commission, and the National Defense Commission.
