Pasadena Unified Presents First Trudell Skinner Female Leadership Award – Pasadena Now

Mariana Salcedo, a senior at Blair High School, is the recipient of the first Trudell Skinner Female Leadership Award, a $1,000 scholarship created in memory of the former Blair principal and PUSD leader who passed away in August. is.

Salcedo is an active young leader with experience in leadership through the JROTC and the community. Engagement, and Academic Performance. She is also the recipient of Blair’s International Baccalaureate Learner Profile Award, as well as many scholarships and awards. She attended Pasadena City College before transferring to California State University, Los Angeles, where she plans to study criminal justice. Her goal is to enter law enforcement.

Pasadena Unified and the Skinner family have created a scholarship to recognize Dr. Skinner’s legacy in honor of her commitment to leadership development and lifelong mentoring. Annual scholarships provide equitable access for eligible PUSD students to continue their education after high school.

The Pasadena School Administrators Association (APSA) also purchased the Trudel Skinner Mentor Bench to be installed in the district office.

Dr. Skinner was a teacher, a leader of mentors, an inspirational mentor to many PUSD administrators, a woman of faith and grace, a loving and dear friend. She has had a profound impact on many educators, guiding and inspiring them on their path to growth and leadership.
