Berwick, Pennsylvania — A woman in Berwick reportedly used a man’s identity to open a bank account in his name and steal medical checks.
Michel Marie Oboro, 31, was staying at his home on E. 8th Street in Berwick, he told police. He had expected that his $105 refund check for diabetes medication would never arrive, so he checked with the company, he told police. The company told him the check had already been sent and cashed.
A few days later, the man received a notice from First Keystone Community Bank about a new account opened in his name, which he denied. The teller reportedly said that Oboro had come to the bank with his information, saying he needed to open an account for his son. So, 5 days later, on August 10th, I withdrew the money.
Oboro is under investigation for stealing $500 from a man’s account on August 8, according to court documents.
Oboro was charged with forgery and impersonation.
