From August 30th to October 25th, 22 restaurants, 1 bar and 1 market in the San Fernando Valley area were closed due to health concerns.
Food establishments have had their health permits suspended for either sewage discharge, water/hot water outages or vermin, according to a report from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.
Food premises with suspended permits should be closed until another inspection determines the issue has been resolved. Closures may occur during periodic and owner-initiated inspections, complaint investigations, and re-inspections.
The agency did not provide details on the nature of the pests, including the types, numbers, and where they were found on the property.
If a food facility is closed due to pest infestation, sewage problems, or no water running through the facility, an additional 7 points will be lost in addition to the 4 points deducted for a serious health violation. Every time two major health hazards are observed, such as unsafe food temperature, the facility loses an additional 3 points in the inspection score.
