Ballmer lost $13.5 billion from his net worth last year after suffering big losses when Microsoft stock, where he was CEO from 2000 to 2014, plummeted. But investing in the Clippers has been great. Estimated worth he is $3.3 billion. Ballmer bought the team for his $2 billion from Donald his Sterling, who was forced to sell the team in 2014.
But the NFL is overwhelming in terms of wealth among its owners. Of these 50 owners, 17 make the list solely for football. The richest is Rob Walton, who just bought the Denver Broncos for his $4.65 billion this offseason. This is the biggest team sale ever.
Walmart’s eldest son, Sam Walton, is the 17th richest person in the country with a fortune of $56.7 billion. His brother Jim Walton surpasses him with $57.9 billion, but Rob Walton is his richest owner in the NFL.
Clippers’ Paul George called NBA’s Discipline of Sons Robert Thurber ‘a slap on the wrist at first’
Right behind him is David Tepper of the Carolina Panthers in third place with $18.5 billion. He is also a recent owner, having bought the team for $2.3 billion in 2018 and is now worth $3.6 billion.
The top five are Memphis Grizzlies owner Robert Pera ($17.6 billion net worth) and New York Mets owner Steve Cohen ($17.5 billion). Cohen recently purchased the team from the Wilpon family for his $2.4 billion in 2020, but Pella’s purchase of him for $377 million in 2012 suggests that Memphis’ current value is $15. Billion dollars, it has done wonders for his net worth.
Jerry Jones explains the one obstacle Dak Prescott faces before returning to the Cowboys
Jerry Jones ranks No. 7 on this list of 50 sports owners, but with the Dallas Cowboys reaching $8 billion this year, $1.5 billion more than last year, he remains the most valuable player in the NFL. I own a sports team with Jones’ wealth, unlike others on the list, comes from his ownership.
Six of the top 10 are NFL owners, with Stanley Cronkey (Los Angeles Rams), Stephen Ross (Miami Dolphins) and Shahid Khan (Jacksonville Jaguars) falling from No. 8 to No. 10 respectively, with Jones continued.
