St. Cloud State University’s contributions to the local economy include an estimated $599 million and over 4,300 jobs.
University Communications reports that the results are based on a study published Jan. 24. The study was approved by the State of Minnesota and conducted by Parker Phillips, a nationally recognized consulting firm that specializes in economic impact analysis.
Parker Philips President Nichole Parker says economic contribution analysis is an objective way to measure an organization’s importance to a local economy. She said it is a useful tool that policymakers can use to inform decisions. Parker added that the numbers speak for themselves. St. Cloud State is clearly an important contributor to the local economy.
The study also concluded that St. Cloud State brings nearly $43 million in tax revenue to state and local governments.
Statewide, all of Minnesota’s businesses, including all seven state universities and 26 community and technical colleges, contribute a combined $8.4 billion to the statewide economy and create more than 62,000 jobs. rice field.
