MONONA, Wisconsin — Police are looking for two suspects who allegedly rammed a Monona police officer’s patrol car Thursday afternoon before chasing officers in multiple cities.
In a news release, the Monona Police Department said officers were called to Kohl’s department store on the 2500 block of West Broadway shortly before 3:40 p.m. and received a report of a retail theft. The suspect left the store with what police said was a “significant amount of merchandise” before getting into a black Acura MDX SUV with Wisconsin license plate ACV-8785.
When officers arrived on the scene, the male driver reportedly deliberately crashed into one of the police cars, damaging the police car’s exterior pushbar.
The police officer inside was not injured.
The suspect led officers on a chase south of Monona and called off the chase in Fitchburg, according to the release.
Police said the suspect’s vehicle was found on the south and west sides of Madison, but officers were unable to stop the suspect.
Police believe the two men were involved in multiple retail robberies in the area and have asked anyone with information to call 608-222-0463. Tips can also be reported to Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 608-266-6014.
