The terms “data science” and “analysis” have been around for a long time. These days, data is the driving force behind every established company.

Every day we see stories of successes and failures in this ever-evolving field of technology. But few are as moving as their stories. Ankush Bhandari, tiffin service provider turned data scientist.

In an interview with Analytics India Magazine, Ankush Bhandari talks about this change in his life.

What is Ankush Bhandari?

Ankush Bhandari holds a Master’s degree in Economics from Ferguson College, Pune and started his entrepreneurial venture Kaivalya Foods as a tiffin service provider.

It required less capital and was very easy to acquire customers. His customer base he grew to 500 in 6 months.

However, due to some personal reasons, he closed the venture and joined IMS Proschool Pvt. 2009 Co., Ltd.

self-taught success

In 2011, Bhandari was promoted to Product Manager for ‘Venture Development’ and co-authored five books on financial planning with Tata McGraw-Hill Publication.

In 2014, he became the head of IMS Proschool CPS. In 2016 he and his team started a “business analytics course” and in 2017 he started a 10-month Data His Science course.

To keep up with the pace of the field, Bhandari also completed the Microsoft Certified Professional Program in Data Science, strengthening his roots in understanding the entire data science ecosystem.

With the help of MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses), Bhandari continued to acquire the skills necessary to move the company forward. He earned his CFP Certification, his Google Certification in Adwords and Analytics, Financial Modeling and Chartered Global Management Accountant (CIMA UK and CGMA).

He is also one of only 13 Google Certified Trainers in India.

Future Goals – Using AI in Education

As a data scientist and educator, Bhandari enhances the learning experience of students by teaching different concepts using data sets that students can relate to, as opposed to the traditional method of teaching machine learning algorithms. We have focused on making it happen.

He also plans to use artificial intelligence to improve the student training experience. Bhandari described how he would like to use video analytics technology to grade student presentations.

Obstacles faced during the journey

When asked about the obstacles he faced on his way to becoming a data scientist, Bhandari said that with his background in economics, studying technology-oriented subjects such as machine learning and data science was a big challenge for him. I remember what happened.

But with the right combination of time, focus, and set of resources, he was able to get through it.

Another big challenge was maintaining a balance between work, family and school. He has managed to do so by staying away from his social media and other distractions.

In an interview, Bhandari also said:

“Finally, after wearing too many hats in a day, I go home to spend time with my little daughter.”

Ankush Bhandari’s very moving story is another example of how dedication and perseverance always pay off.

When asked about the next big thing in tech, he said:

“I think the time will come soon for your robot to interview mine.”

Self-study, dedication, and the right mindset, along with writing great code, play a very important role in building a successful career in technology.

This very inspiring story by Ankush Bhandari motivates me to work hard in the IT department, make it big and witness its exponential growth.
