Undergraduate Study Day – Royal Purple

The undergraduate study program is intended to be a useful resource for students who wish to conduct research on a myriad of academic topics and undertake creative projects in career areas. Some students are also given the opportunity to improve their research skills by working on research projects with on-campus faculty mentors.

Undergraduate Research Day 2022 was held for hundreds of students, faculty and staff at the University Center on Tuesday, October 18th.

“This part of the event gives students the opportunity to open their minds and expand their knowledge as one of the student studies. I went to school here and this is one of the things that stood out for me is researching resources to help with things It’s part of an event to find resources to do so,” said research administrator Danielle Story of the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs.

The event was opened by Interim Prime Minister John Chenoweth. This was followed by an undergraduate research poster session. Interim Provost Robin Fox made closing remarks, followed by a brief pitch competition with undergraduates. Finished at the fair.

Undergraduates have the opportunity to pitch to on-campus resources like Angel Navarrete, an advanced biology major, to explain how their research is progressing.

“Research is important and new information to research. I want to get more out of it by talking to people and doing more research on what I’m looking at,” Navarrete said. increase. “For me, I just got the chance to spearhead this research I wrote for this event, and this is like my baby.”

There were numerous networks that participated in research resource fairs such as the Center for Technology Communication, Financial Services, Graduate Schools, Honors Programs, Institutional Planning and Research, Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, Sustainability Office, and University Innovation Center. more.

“It’s been four or five years since I came back, especially with COVID, but I’m glad I got the chance to meet people around me and reach out to undergraduates. We are reaching out and trying to be part of the Whitewater ecosystem,” said Todd Strother, senior technology consultant at the Wisconsin Center for Technology Commercialization.

Students attended the event to check out the many activities going on throughout the day. Some attended the event for the class, others stopped by to gather valuable information for future use.
