Real Madrid failed to beat Real Sociedad at the Santiago Bernabéu on Sunday 29 January, ending the La Liga match scoreless.
The first half of the match was action-packed and exciting with both teams creating chances and showing their skill on the pitch. Despite a clean sheet in the first half, the game was so entertaining that the fans didn’t sit in their seats.
Real Madrid dominated play for the most part and ended the first half with a slight advantage. But Real Sociedad also had their moments, coming close to scoring a few times. Alexander his Sorlos missed a golden chance by failing his Muñoz cross, and Asiel his Ijaramendi’s powerful shot narrowly missed his Courtois post on Thibaut.
With the first half over, the action shifted to the other side of the pitch, with Madrid having several scoring chances. Vinícius Junior played centrally and had a great chance, but the shot went wide of the goal. There was another chance just before the half-time whistle, but the shot went straight to Sociedad goalkeeper Alex Remiro.
Karim Benzema, as usual, impressed with his footwork and left the crowd in awe with his ability to keep the ball despite the meticulous attention of the defense. Vinicius wasn’t so cool in front of goal, but he and Rodrigo were a constant threat to Sociedad’s defense.
The excitement continued in the second half, but the match between 2nd and 3rd place did not lead to a score.
Real Madrid continued to rely heavily on Vinicius to score goals. Unfortunately, he squandered a big chance. In one instance he was presented with a difficult angle and his effort was saved by Remiro who took a low dive to prevent the goal.
In another one-on-one chance, the Brazilian tried to raise the ball over the goalkeeper, but Remiro quickly predicted the chip and pushed it away.
